Hello my readers! A fantastic day to all. Well, you all must have come to know that I reside in India. So in India, we respect our religion, our culture. Hence, we have to give invitations for our happiness. Whether it is a child’s first birthday party or marriage or success or settling abroad, we have to invite all, by giving proper invitations. Earlier, there was a one concept of invitation card, where it was kind of rule to go to our friends or relatives house, invite them and handover the invitation card to them. But now since WhatsApp is ruling everywhere, we create one image and send it in WhatsApp group. But still we Indians need an invitation card for marriage functions else we don’t go and also complain to others that we didn’t get any invitation. Also, the phone call is a must, else the complaint will be that we were not invited by heart. So, we spend a lot on the invitation card and write many things on it like welcome stanza, who is getting married to whom, lunch time, dinner time, reception time and address. But we ignore everything, except for lunch time and dinner time.
So, such is the case and such functions have lots of comments composed by friends or relatives that they didn’t like the food. We get to hear 98% negative comments and only 2% positive comments. The negative comments are mostly on food and on the bride’s look. Since, we have come to such functions only for food and hence we expect very good quality of food from the bride’s family. Usually, The arrangements of marriages function in India are done by the bride’s family. Very few cases are there, where both the families agreed on the expenses. So, if we don’t get food as per our expectation then we don’t blame the caterers, we blame the bride’s family.
In one marriage function, few people literally insulted the bride’s family just because they had kept typical Indian food on the menu. The guests were expecting Italian, Mexican and all. But since they got simple food, they thought they had the right to say the same on the bride’s family face and be a snollygoster. But they still bibble over their food. Well, The money was paid by the bride’s family and not by us.
Every marriage or any other function has such comments. Yes, there were comments on my marriage too. One even complained about the location of the banquet hall. They said that the banquet hall was too far from their house and they are tired of travelling. Wow, you should have told me this before. I would have kept my marriage function in your house only. At Least I didn’t have to pay for the banquet hall. Such flotsam and jetsam comments take an emotional toll. For a few days only, but that few days the family goes through hell. Sleepless nights and the tiredness are unbroken.
So, I was thinking, what if we start giving honest invitations. What will the content be? Since I have written more on marriage functions, let’s start with the marriage invitation card.
Amrish Puri and Shahrukh Khan did “Aau Aau” to pigeons in movie Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jaayenge (DDLJ), In the same way, XYZ family is doing “Aau Aau” to you and cordially invites you to the wedding of Mr. ABC and Ms. CBA on DD / MM, YYYY from 7pm onwards, followed by dinner at this address.
Since we have spent a lot hence we will accept only cash as a gift starting from 2000 Rps. The dinner menu is as per the taste of the groom and bride because it’s their day and not yours. Return gifts will be given only to present members, not to the whole family. Don’t slyly ask for it. The reception time is from 7pm to 9pm and no one will be entertained after 9pm because the couple will be more tired than you.
Thanks, Do come with your heart and soul.
I know, such an invitation is just a dream. But, to be on a lighter note, we should try to keep our mouth shut. No family orders for unappetizing food on the D-day, after spending extravagantly. It’s the caterers that don’t care. So it’s the duty of money spender to shout at them and not your duty to make them feel low. So next time, when you get an invitation, just enjoy, meet and greet others. Such comments have made the younger generation not to celebrate any functions with all. They enjoy it with their friends only because when they get taunted, they can insult their friends. Remember, days are gone when we were taught that elders are everything, respect them, don’t question them. This generation knows to give respect only if they get respect and they will always ask this question, “Why?”.. Well, this generation is good because they know the answer to everything. and we just know because our elders did it.
So, stay in touch, be happy and stop taunting. Enjoy the meet and be respected by all.
Who doesn’t like food. Everybody is a foodie here. In this world, we have all the food and in India, you will get all the country’s food. In every corner, in every restaurant you will find all kinds of food. Whether it is North Indian food, South Indian, Italian, Chinese, etc. all kinds of food is available in India. It is rightly said by “Irish Proverb” that “Laughter is brightest where food is best.” So why travel the world when you have everything in India.
In India itself you will find different varieties of food like North Indian, South Indian, Konkani food, Malvani, Mogalai, Hyderbadi, Goan, etc etc etc.. The list is never ending. How can I forget “Maharashtrian” Food. But the one which I want to specify is about “Konkani” food.
I personally found this food very unique, very interesting and sometimes shocking too. Because you will never imagine certain food in the gravy form. Have you seen Jackfruit (Kadgi Gashi) gravy? Have you seen mango (Sasav) gravy? All this Gravy food, people have it with rice. Rice is the staple food in Konkani. It is rightly said by “Paul Prudhomme” that “You don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.” Trust me Guys, These foods taste awesome.

In the history of cuisines, Konkani Cuisine is one the most delicious cuisines you could come across in India. Konkani food traditionally and historically tends to have a lot of seafood in addition to Indian based seasonings. The use of coconut in food is also popular, giving Konkani cuisine a characteristic taste. There are many famous konkani foods like shark (Mori Masala) curry that are popular along the Konkan coast. Solkadhi is an appetizer made from coconut milk and kokam. It is usually served with kombdi vade (Chicken Gravy), fish and mutton Malvani. Bangda fry (Mackerel fish) is a popular dish, especially in Mumbai. In India, Mumbai is the best place where you will get all kinds of and all varieties of food.

It is rightly said by “Julia Child” that “People who love to eat are always the best people”. If you have the right company then you will enjoy not only this konkani food but all other varieties of food too. “Cesar Chavez” said, “If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… The people who give you their food give you their heart.”
And last but not the least,”Virginia Woolf” said, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if he has not dined well.” So, do taste the konkani food, Do let us know the restaurant name and place where you have found excellent food.
That’s the biggest question. And wait, that’s not a married women question or mom’s question, that’s the question of every individual who is responsible for their or someone’s life.
Here goes our unused or precious mind on work. Here is what our mind actually works and takes all the pressure of thinking all kind of veges / non-veg / Italian / Brazilian / Srilankan. And so we end up cooking very simple food or ordering from Swiggy (No minimum order).
Maggie tastes much better if we add onion, tomato, paneer..
But “Aaj Khaane me kya banau?”, what this question mean to you. (Good meaning re!! no double meaning)
— Is that someone needs your attention?
— Is that someone needs a topic to start communication?
— Or is that someone is actually worried for menu?
(I know, hunger ka saamne kuch bhi nahi)
Different situations, different story.
The point is not what we prepare. The point is how tasty we make?. You know, even karela (Bitter Gourd) can be sweet, of-course by adding sugar. So the question is, how tasty we make?
Same is the situation with our life. It is how we handle by adding sugar in our “Karela” life.
Some prepare food on slow flame, some on high flame. Slow cooking actually makes the food tasty. But some people are in hurry, so they need fast cooking. Same with life, some decision are slow, some are fast. Some may love the outcome, some may not. But at the end, its how tasty it was?
Some food taste good, but look very weird. A dash of kotambir (Coriander) helps to look boring food into excellent. So,
— Always keep your house clean.
— Don’t forget to dress up properly.
— Its not necessary to have fancy item at home, its about keeping things in place.
— Everything should be up-to-date and in-place.
I understand, everyday you can’t do the same stuffs. You can take a day off. But only 1 day, not 2 days.
So ask yourself, What will be the new thing in your life today (Aaj khaane me kya banau)?
